In technical visits to Dubai and Abu Dhabi organized by the Abdullah Gül University Construction Club, civil engineering students examined projects on-site.
Abdullah Gül University (AGU) students take learning outside the classroom with international internship chances and technical visits while gaining international experience through language courses in the USA and the EU Youth Training Programmes starting from the English preparatory class.
For this purpose, Construction Club students organized technical visits to Dubai and Abu Dhabi by themselves with the sponsorship of TAV Construction.
During the technical visits, students visited the construction sites of 'Damac Tower' in Dubai and 'Abu Dhabi Airport Midfield Terminal Building' in Abu Dhabi, belonging to TAV Construction, and received information from TAV officials and engineers about the projects.
Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Burak Uzal, Head of the Civil Engineering, 15 students joined the technical visit and they also had the chance to see Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world with a height of 828 metres, Burj Al Arab, the first 7-star hotel in the world, and Sheikh Zayed, the third biggest mosque in the world with its unique architecture.
Stating that the visit was a big opportunity for students, Assoc. Prof. Burak Uzal said that students could meet great managers and field engineers of big projects and ask their questions directly to them.
Uzal added: "It is very important for us to visit international projects. Abu Dhabi Airport project had people from 57 nationalities working for the construction. We, as AGU, believe that the visit contributed greatly to our vision of preparing students for the international business and industry world."
The Construction Club President Sedat Gülçimen said the visit was a good experience in the sense that they could observe the application of knowledge taught in classes.
Gülçimen mentioned that Construction Club students also planned technical visits to Russia and Azerbaijan and were seeking sponsors.
